Happy moving, mkyl.
I don't know when my other house will be ready for me to start moving into....I will try to withhold my jealousy.  I've still got three rooms to paint, crown moulding to put up in 6 rooms and baseboards to put down in 7 rooms...my flooring isn't down......and I start my classes on Tuesday, to boot. (Working on getting a second certification so I can teach something other than art....) House #1 that I am packing up is 90 minutes up the interstate from the place where my classes are....House #2 which isn't ready yet is one hour from house #1....so I just see me going up and down the interstate again for the next couple of months..... I really do wish my life would get back to some semblance of normality...without paints cans and packing boxes a part of the decor. |

How many rooms did you have to paint, whisk?
The painting itself is bad enough....but I have to confess I bought an old house WITH PANELLING! I couldn't afford to have the panelling ripped out and drywall installed so I am....painting the panelling. Do you know how many coats of paint it takes to paint panelling?? And then, helpful relatives stopping by and telling me how much it would help the resell value of the house if I would put in drywall instead and how much better it would look and how much happier I would be with it. Hey folks, I'd be happier in nice new house but that doesn't mean I can afford one. Does the term UNEMPLOYED mean anything to them? Grrrrrrrr |

6 rooms and a hallway.
I had pannelling in my living room and replaced it with drywall. The pannelling I had had was wallpapered. Im sure this doesnt help a bit, but thats what I had and what I did. |

I have some textured wallpaper to cover panelling that I am gong to use on an accent wall in my bedroom and then again halfway up the wall in the kitchen and then put a chair rail.
Even when I get a job again and have some extra money, I will have to decide how much more to sink into the place verus just getting out and getting me a newer home. I can only do so much more to it if I want to keep it in a certain price range.... and if I don't keep it down in a certain price range I won't be able to recoup. Boy, this is a boring post.  I should make up something just to liven things up around here a bit. |

don't worry guys, i'm back! moved in saturday afternoon but it was very paint smelly [they were painting as we moved in] so we left, got drunk, stayed elsewhere saturday night, then yesterday and today i've been at Andrew's parents' trailer [they have a trailer nicer than a house at the RCMP camp... bitches]
finally got back tonight at 830 and for 7 hours i worked my ass off putting up a light and putting together my furniture and getting my room set up. nothing left to unpack! just a few things to get put away, and my walls are lookin' bare so i'll do something about that tomorrow [after my big trip to ikea!] lol its 4:15. im tired. lol I SAY FAR TOO MANY HILARIOUS THINGS TO CHOOSE JUST ONE TO BE QUOTED HERE

Hope everyone had as good a weekend as I. WE had game night and a dinner party at our house on Saturday night. Lots of good friends and good fun...YAY for Taboo and Cranium's Pop 5.
The last two days, the BFF and I locked ourselves in and watched the first season of Ugly Betty. Heroes is next on the marathon agenda. Woo hoo! |

Wow, I'm gone for a few days and I come back to a new Howdy! To tell you the truth I kind of like the idea of a new Howdy thread. I feel like the Ranch is on to a new era with some new and old faces. Starting fresh with a new Howdy thread seems kind of appropriate. Good idea Waggy.
It sounds like you all have been busy while I have been away. It's been a hectic few days for me with my parents visiting but i have to say it was kind of nice not having to worry about BB or any television show while they were here. lol My parents left this morning. It was a good visit. I'm not all that close to them and I sometimes see it as more a burden to hang out with them but I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and enjoy it as much as I can....even if it is a little hard. We spent a day in San Diego, visited with my cousin's who live near me, I took them to a USC football game, and we ate out every night. I wasn't about to attempt to cook. In all I think it was a good visit. I honestly have to say that after dropping them off at the airport, I arrived home, started checking my email and when I got up and walked into the living room I felt a sense of emptiness. Usually I am just releived to be alone again but I think this time I like having them around even though they did get on my nerves a bit...but that is what parents are for. My mom made an interesting comment last night which really got me thinking. She started to say, "I bet you will be happy when we leave tomorrow....." Immediately I was thinking she was meaning that I wasn't enjoying having them around and couldn't wait for them to leave. but she kept talking and said, "......because you are used to be alone and on your own." It really struck me that she "got it"....she does understand. anyway, it's good to be back but it's not for long. I head up to Seattle for thursday and fly back on friday morning. It is a short trip but enough to tire me out, I am sure. After that I will be back full time. tonight i went to a comedy club for the first time! it was so much fun
the headliner was Debra Di Giovanni [some of you may know her from the most recent season of Last Comic Standing, while i know her from the amazing Video On Trial on MuchMusic]. the show was awesome, especially her and the host of the night. it was so great!  i am back to school at 11:30am... 3 years to go, and tomorrow starts that countdown again. crazy! wish me luck! well, mkyl, this past Tueseday I had my first college class...in about a decade and a half, not counting 2 recertification courses I had to take to keep my teaching license active. A year of classes ahead for me, at my age (sigh)...boring adult degree classes at night, too.

good for you for going back to school!i ... uh ... missed my first day of school. that makes three years in a row lol. tomorrow i'll get there, i promise! after class, im heading right to see Brad Paisley in concert yay! then, right after the concert, i bus to the bus station where i will meet up with Andrew, and we will be off to Renfrew for the weekend for the Renfrew Fair!
